Welcome to a More Personal Home for Darren Rowse
Jun/0949
Welcome to DarrenRowse.com
I’ve had this domain for quite a few years now but have never done much more than forward it to one of my other blogs.
However over the past few months I’ve had a growing desire to create a space online to write about topics that have less to do with the niches that my blogs talk about and to write more about ‘life’.
I’m not exactly sure what I’ll blog about or how often I’ll post – but whatever it ends up being it’ll be more of a glimpse into what I’m thinking and feeling passionate.
Don’t expect too much in the way of writing about blogging, photography or anything much else to do with social media – I’ve got blogs for each of those topics (see sidebar) – rather expect to see me think out loud about life.
Posts will by no means be daily – they may not even be weekly – rather they’ll come as I’m inspired to add them.
Thanks for stopping by – if you’d like to follow on feel free to subscribe to my feed here.

Finally. Surprised you hadn’t had one to begin with. This can be your “calling card”, or is that ProBlogger already? In any case, well done.
12:55 pm on June 24th, 2009
Congrats Darren. It will be good to hear more a personal side to you having known your blogging side for so many years and years now.
12:58 pm on June 24th, 2009
I’m very pleased that you’re doing this Darren. And i’m looking forward to getting a peek inside your head, to learn your thoughts apart from those niches that you excel at=) no Pressure. ;p
12:58 pm on June 24th, 2009
Thanks Jose and Jim – we’ll see where this progresses to – to be honest I’m not quite sure how I’ll end up using it – but in many ways it’s a full circle return to the way I started my first blog – talking about life :-)

Congrats for the new project! It’s nice to see other side of you.

Cool…looking forward to your postings! I will pass the message along about the book donations….it’s a great cause! If you ever need tips on flying give me a shout: )
1:04 pm on June 24th, 2009
Ming – you might not like what you see in that head of mine :-)
1:05 pm on June 24th, 2009
This is really cool. I think at some point every blogger feels the need to start a personal blog just to discuss things not in their specific area. That’s why I have mine. Good luck with your latest site. :)

Very cool, I look forward to seeing more of the personal side of the great Darren Rowse!
1:06 pm on June 24th, 2009
I tend to like what’s in “that head” of everyone more than what they put out there for everyone else anyhow. But in your case, it all rocks. :)
1:12 pm on June 24th, 2009
Good to see the non-business side of Darren! Reminds me to pick up my blogging, I’ve been slacking in that area too much.
1:15 pm on June 24th, 2009
You know Darren, I think it’s not just a full circle for you, but for blogging as a whole, but I guess that’s something we could talk about over at problogger. Think I’ll take this opportunity to thank you for all the guidance you’ve shared through the years.
Kudos!

Much like any arena that engenders elements of celebrity, I suspect people will love behind-the-scenes peeks here as well. Seeing as how you’re something of a blogging rock star, and all. I’ve always found your writing voice to be balanced and genuine. So I’m thrilled you’ve launched your new blog, and look forward to following along. All best to you…
1:18 pm on June 24th, 2009
It’s great that you put up a personal blog. This way your readers will see a much more holistic view of the man behind problogger.com.
Will this mean a return to the basics for the blogging world? Who knows? Subscribing!
1:24 pm on June 24th, 2009
Congrats Darren, I must say there are not many people who can launch a new blog and instantly have people commenting on it! But in your case, your following follows you!! I agree with Michelle, the personal element of ‘what’s in your head’ is interesting and will likely generate some lively conversation.
2:18 pm on June 24th, 2009
Darren: Glad to see you are taking this on. I find your other blogs fascinating and informative. I’d love to be able to subscribe in email. Any chance that option will become available?
3:45 pm on June 24th, 2009
Precisely why I blog at MoneyPowerWisdom.com, Darren.
After a while of hyper-focused ‘niche blogging’, you really do want a place on the Web where you can hang out, philosophize, and just “be YOU”.
Looking forward to learning more about the ‘man behind the blog’ :-)
All success

I am sure it will be another success Darren. Subscribed.

Hi Darren,
Congratulation on your new home. Hearing you think out loud will be a real treat, as it’s always nice to know what goes on in the head of a problogger when they’re not concentrating on a specific niches.
5:36 am on June 25th, 2009
I never really thought about it before but I am surprised you haven’t done this sooner… I too bought my name but sat on it for a while before deciding to do something about it. Like you its just my personal space to post my thoughts on life and all things random. It will be interesting to find out a little more about your views on life away from your niche blogs.
6:16 am on June 25th, 2009
I think that is great! I subscribe to ProBlogger and DPS. I look forward to learning more about you beyond these two interests.
7:39 am on June 25th, 2009
Hey Darren… interesting. I’ve been thinking of doing something similar. I’d love to hear your thoughts in a month or two to see if you think doing a personal blog on top of your other ones was a good idea or not. ;)
8:49 am on June 25th, 2009
all the best darren for ur new project. i think this project will be more closer to you rather than other blogs. we may also had a chance to know about your extreme life!
take care……….

Sounds good! Hoping you’ll make sure to Tweet your updates! :D

It was just a matter of time.

Darren, this is great! Already subscribed. :-)
10:32 pm on June 25th, 2009
I don’t think you can ever have too many blogs. Personal blogs can be fun also. I have not done one yet. Maybe one day.
10:53 pm on June 25th, 2009
Darren, I love it. As an entrepreneur myself, I have the itch to write personal stuff and you sure can’t do that on a business blog. Do you have a feed?
10:54 pm on June 25th, 2009
Okay, I see it…the feed that is. ;o)
11:18 pm on June 25th, 2009
Hi Darren,
As a remedial reading teacher I am excited about your book project. I work with many kids who have never had a book read to them.
1:14 am on June 26th, 2009
All the best Darren, believe me its really refreshing to write about personal things after all those regular blogging days. Its spontaneous, easy and fun. I have to admit I’ve checked out this domain a few times just to see if you’ve put up a personal blog, and now you have it.
Cheers !

I’m excited to get to be one of the folks who will get to go along with you on this new venture. I too recently decided to do a more personal blog… it’s been infinitely more rewarding in lots of ways than my more business’y blogs since folks will email you and tell you how you touched them or helped them in a personal struggle. Good luck to you!
2:51 am on June 26th, 2009
Hey Darren,
Really glad to see you’ve done this. Kind of a big ol’ dynamic “about” page. I’ll subscribe because it will be interesting to learn a bit more about you.
Best of luck on this new venture.
Cheers
George

Nice example to your Problogger readers of a simple & elegant way to explore interests on the personal side – without compromising the focus of your main blog(s). Bonus: this should help a bit to keep your work/life balance in balance! :)
12:31 pm on June 26th, 2009
I am excited to see this. I know there is more to you than the ProBlogger stuff. I know you are a Christian and would love to know more about YOU. Look forward to following this blog!
2:52 pm on June 26th, 2009
Nice to see a more personal side of you coming out of hiding.
6:56 am on June 27th, 2009
Darren, you know that I think you put out amazing stuff brother from Problogger…I’m like a RT’ing addict of many of your posts. LOL But I’m really excited to read the occasional personal side of your blogging style. And like Lori said above…I look forward to that too. Be blessed.

Hiya Darren, Congrats on the new blog. I’m excited to get to know your inspiration & motivations. (Those are personal things, right?) This blog might become THE standard of personal blogs; who knows?? Anyways, wishing you all the best.

Hi Darren,
I’m new to all of this as I have just started freelance writing after teaching for a few years. I’ve read a lot of your posts on problogger today and now ended up on your personal blog. Glad to meet you and thanks for all the great info I read today!

hey Darren,
Great idea! I’ve emailed you several times about it but you didn’t make any kind of response!
but any way, happy for you as always!
keep it like that!

Sorry Abdessamad – I do get hundreds of emails a day so can’t get back to everyone. I do try to respond to those who I’m able to help in some way.

Very nice blog! I’m glad you got DarrenRowse.com rather than it falling into someone else’s hands. I suppose separating your personal blog from your business blogs is best, although I put everything in one large pot and stir.
5:29 pm on September 9th, 2009
Cool. Now i understand a bit more why i have a general sense of affinity for you and what you do. Thanks. You’re doing good.

I’m relieved to hear you are writing about “life”, so refreshing. I’m tired of hearing about blogs, photography, and such even though it’s all necessary I guess.

Being new to blogging, I can see I’ve been pointed in the right direction in being shown the way here. I’m always curious about what’s going on in people’s head (not least of which my own), and a high profile head can be just as entertaining as an off the radar one :).
All the best to us private thinkers who don’t mind a bit of publicity :)
